In 2015 I finally plucked up the courage to ditch the 9 to 5 marketing career and give myself time for the two things that really make me tick; growing my own food and cooking. I went down the self-employed freelance marketing path and with my newfound spare time I got busy plotting my kitchen garden, perfecting some of my favourite recipes and experimenting with creative ways of cooking over campfires.

Kaboli (which means ‘stir’ in Cornish) had been kicking around as an idea in my head for some time, and in 2017 I decided it was time to turn my ideas into a reality by trialling a few campfire feast nights. On several occasions I invited friends and family to come and spend a summer’s evening in my veg patch and cooked up a real treat for them using fresh ingredients from the raised beds, all cooked on an open fire. What a success! They all loved it and it gave me the courage to really go for it in 2018 by setting up my own campfire supper club and the odd session designed to help people get their own veg patch on the go.
